About Us

JO Boating was founded by Graham Raspass and Micah Lane, the owners of Flagstaff Marine an award winning dealership representing some of the leading brands of boats in the world including Beneteau Sail boats, Beneteau Inboard Power boats , Excess Catamarans, Amel yachts and Lomac Rigid Inflatables.

Both Graham and Micah are passionate and enthusiastic sailors and enjoy nothing more than time on the water with their family and friends. Australia and in particular Sydney Harbour, Pittwater and SE Queensland/Gold Coast, where JO Boating will operate offer some of the most beautiful and enjoyable cruising grounds in the world.

Over the past 2/3 years we have had an increasing number of inquiries from would be owners who simply don’t have the time to manage the upkeep and maintenance of their new boat and don’t feel that they can justify outright ownership at this stage of their life , with other competing commitments for their time.

In the world of the ever-growing shared economy in so many facets of our life it was only natural that we introduced a shared or Joint Ownership program – JO Boating

JO Boating will offer shares in a range of boats including Sailing Yachts, Power Boats, Catamarans and Day Boats / Day Cruisers.

All of these latest model boats will be managed and fully maintained by our team. You can just enjoy your time on the water knowing your investment is being professionally looked after and the peace of mind that when the time comes to sell the boat the end of your 3-year term, you can anticipate a strong resale value

At JO Boating we have three key goals underpinning our vision of “delivering lasting memories”:

One: to offer accessible and affordable ownership to modern luxury boats and through shared ownership offer the chance to enjoy a new boat for a fraction of the cost.

Two: to provide a pathway for those new to boating to gain experience and confidence. As part of your shared ownership program you will receive a personalised induction to your boat from one of highly experienced skippers and for those special occasions when you want to be free to enjoy socialising with your guests, for a small additional fee you can hire a skipper for the day.

Three: To provide memorable experiences that you and your family will remember and cherish for the rest of your life.

Our Founders

Graham Raspass

Director

Having dreamed about boating his whole life, in 2003 Graham decided it was finally time to tick the dream off his bucket list. Graham loved his time on the water so much that he turned his back on his successful corporate career, determined to combine his love of boating with business.

After a career in corporate and consulting roles, Graham was a relatively late starter to the world of sailing, first taking lessons in 2003. He quickly became a passionate sailor and has now fully immersed himself in the industry. He is the co-owner and director of Flagstaff Marine, the exclusive Australian importer of the iconic Beneteau sailing and inboard powerboats alongside other prestige brands such as Amel, Excess and Lomac.

Having taken his family on many a sailing adventure since those early days when he swapped his suit and tie for a polo shirt and cap, Graham is committed to the vision of JO Boating to deliver lasting memories for its owners.

One of the most magical times is to wake up on the boat”, he says. “I love that time when you come up the companionway, up on the deck, and the water is totally serene and placid”.

Graham can be contacted on 0418 168 231.

Micah Lane

Director

Micah spent the early part of his childhood in South Africa, moving to Australia in 1988.

His first on-water passion was windsurfing which he enjoyed off Balmoral and Clontarf Beaches.

Micah started sailing when he was just 8 years old at the Vaucluse Amateur 12ft Sailing Club. That continued into his teen years, and working in the marine industry was something he always wanted to do.

His career began in 2003 as a brokerage assistant before purchasing the brokerage arm of Vicsail Sydney. In 2015 when Graham took over the Beneteau importer ship from Vicsail, they realised that they had two complementary businesses that would work well as a team and they became Flagstaff Marine.

“We put the companies together in 2014. Shortly after that we took on Beneteau powerboats. So now we have Beneteau sailing and Beneteau power, and Amel yachts.

Jo Boating is an extension of that thriving partnership. The perfect outcome for Micah is seeing a customer enjoying their boat.

…they have a glint in their eye themselves for how much they enjoy the boat. That’s a great thing.

Micah can be contacted on 0414 307 766.
